Not if she's wearing it I guess, how can they prove you bought it in the US anyway?

  • You're supposed to spend a month's wages on an engagement ring ... and some people are rich c***s

    :)

I always thought it was between one and three months salary - which could easily come to £10K
  • i did wander around tiffanys earlier this year in NY - tried on some very expensive jewellery too (well, it would be rude not to ;)). there were a lot of couples getting engagement rings together which was really sweet. if you're spending that much money, are you 100% sure that the ring will be exactly what she wants (i'd say 99% sure isn't quite enough!)? i guess i have strong ideas on what rings i like, but then they might look different on my finger.

whatever you do, she's a very lucky girl! i will leave this page open for my BF to see later (it can't do any harm to leave a hint, can it? ;))

NEW YORK NEW YORK - DO IT DO IT!!!

Hubby did this for me, can't recommend it enough. Organised it all from the UK before we went. We turned up at Tiffany's and were given a private little viewing room, champagne and made to feel very special. I can really recommend it. PM me if you would like the name & contact details of the SA.
For our first wedding anniversay (paper) I bought him a share in Tiffany's - also means we get sent a brochure of all their lovely new shiny jewellry :)

We did exactly the same, proposed in Central Park and got the ring at tiffany's made it so special.

    Hiya,

    Lucky girl!

With your budget of £1500-2000, you have between 3000 and 4000 dollars (at current exchange rate). Apparently the tiffany setting starts from $1,140 - £562. I got the prices from this website

  • Just to add a touch of realism to this thread.

The tiffany's engagement ring my now wife picked, cost at the exchange rate of the day £600, it was exactly what she wanted, single diamond in classic tiffany setting.

I was prepared to pay much more, but she was delighted with the ring, so it doesn't need to cost the earth. In fact everyone she talks to thinks (beacuse its from Tiffany's) that i must be worth thousands of pounds.
