This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning all,
Looks like its been raining again and its meant to be getting a lot colder from today.
I am dropping DD off at station this morning then going straight to Lidl to get the shopping, we don't need much so I thought I would do this rather than do online this week, I should get there as it opens and be home by 9.30.
I managed to get all the presents finished yesterday :jand as much as I hate shopping I think the way for me to do it, is go on my own and get round as quickly as possible !
After shopping today I have some presents to wrap for Birthdays and cards to write, then will have a rest this afternoon.
Have good days all xx

Morning all. Quickie from me. 3 DGDs to feed and get ready for school. Then we have a funeral to go to. A friend and neighbour who we have known since we moved up here 35 years ago. He was only two years older than me. Our children grew up together and were in and out of each other's houses all the time.
All is calm weather wise for now but I gather winter is to arrive with a vengeance over the weekend.
Have a good day all (((((HUGS))))) to those wanting/needing them. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all, TA, that will be very sad for you all, hope it will celebrate his life.
I must get to work, part time seems to mean 11 hour days sometimes.
Have a decent day everyoneI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all,
Thank you RR for starting us off
The weather seems calm at the moment but as TA says we also are promised a winter weekend.
DGD1 has a day off work today and is going to emulsion her room. She says she doesn't need any help, which I respect, but we will be on hand if she does. I have washing to do anyway so will be here.
I have all the Christmas presents now, and wrapped up. I have a hamper to order for friends who live in another part of the country and I have a few more cards to buy, I thought I had bought enough.
The bathroom is finished with shiney new taps and I just have the floor to wash today.
I hope everyone stays warm and safe over the weekend

Morning All
Wet and cold here, snow forecast for tomorrow!
DW emptied, will do a dark load of washing when I get home, work stuff can go in too. Need to mop the floors later too.
Got home and the big box with the bathroom cabinet in had been moved from the hall, I thought great, the builder has put it up. But no, he had just moved it to the kitchen! I'll ask today if he can do it.
Stay safe and warm everyone, TA - hope all goes well today. Feel better soon Gers. Hugs to anyone in need. Take care. XX0 -
Morning folks,
RR - well done on your Ninja shoppingI put an hours parking on the car and was back with a minute to spare, got everything I wanted, biggest hold up was in Mr Sparks which was rammed. Only went in there to get my DOH some of their Chorley cakes which he loves.
Today I will need to tackle Mount Ironmore as have neglected that all week, then over to see my boy to make sure he gets his allotted hour outside.
This afternoon I will need to do some food shopping, have been eating out of the freezer all week but have my DM coming to stay for a few days on Sunday and always like to get a few treats in for her. She manages her money so well but there is very little left for anything other than the basics, she loves my sardine pate so will make some of that, also have some fruit soaking for a tea loaf. Am thinking a nice piece of beef brisket for Sunday.
Anyways, need to finish my cuppa and get a shift on, have a good day everyone x0 -
Good Morning everyone, grey, cold, wet day here today but I'm going to be on a train for a great deal of it so I'll be dry until I get where I'm going by which time hopefully it will have passed. I'm off to DD1 for a concert tomorrow and will be back home on Monday afternoon so look after yourselves, I hope I'll be able to keep up with all your news while I'm away but sometimes life gets busy so if I can't, see you all on Monday, Lyn xxx.0

Morning :hello:
I hope you feel better soon Gers xx
The man-trus are going away for a couple of days so we'll have peaceI have tonight to myself but miss tru is staying in tomorrow, we're going to stretch out on the sofas and have a DVD night.
I still can't decide what storage to use in the bathroom, there's not much space so choice is limited. That should make it easier but it doesn'tSo I still have lots of toiletries cluttering up the bedroom. There's also three large chilli plants in there, they're too big for the widowsill so they're on the floor. The lack of space is really irritating me now so I'm going to spend a couple of hours up there sorting through things and cleaning. Will be nice to see the carpet again

Not much else planned for today, just one load of washing and a bit of housework.

Morning.
My temperature has come down a bit to almost normal this morning, wonders of a damp flannel and paracetamol. Not sure the damp flannel did any good but it felt wonderful. Courtesy of NN I slept well with only a few stirrings to cough or wee.
More dark clouds outside, not currently raining but no doubt it'll be back. My plans are to lie back and get better! There is plenty to eat and I shan't be stirring far.
Thanks for all the good wishes.
I hope everyone enjoys their Friday.0 -
Morning((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, hope you feel better soon Gers, the cold wet flannel trick is a very old one I used it with my children years ago.
Grey morning and brrrrrr, we are going into town this afternoon, OH has his history meeting ; I have some shopping to do and we need to call at Sainsbury to collect a frozen turkey crown for Christmas lunch. We are going to DD2's, so will take it to her nearer the time. I have a £20 gift card, so that will do nicely.
Will have to turn the heaters up tonight, although we have enough coal and wood to have the fire on all day if we need to. No plans for the weekend.
Elona, that bungalow was not meant for you, my Grandmother used to say'if it's meant to happen, it will'. That is so true. Good luck with the other bungalows. £25 grand above 'starting at' was a heck of a lot.0 -
Morning all
We have sunshine :j I expect it's cold as it was freezing when I went out late last night to pick dd up from a night out
I'm very impressed with all who have finished their Xmas shopping , :T. However I'm not far behind just a couple more to do . I'm struggling for an idea for mother in law , she is 91 has everything and doesn't use any of it lol
Need to go to b00ts to pick up an online order this morning , then I need to sort out as I'm going away for a few days . I'm only taking hand luggage so need to pack wisely .
Have a good day everyone xx0
