Capital One Application

Hi all. After ruining my credit score years ago I am now trying to re build it as it's been years since having any credit
Applied for a capital one card today online and it came back successful with 200 limit. Is that just a provisional accept pending someone looking at it or do you think finally my credit future is looking hopeful? It asked me to set up direct debit afterwards so it looks hopeful. I haven't had any emails of confirmation or anything though
Thanks

it's an acceptance. just await the card and yada yada.
  • Thanks. Just got the email confirmation today. I had a card off them 8 years ago and defaulted. Trying my best to get my credit back in shape so hopefully this will work as it's the only thing on my credit file

did you repay the other one? or did you let it 'fall off' after 6 years?

I defaulted on a Capital One card Dec 2009, I applied and didn't expect to get a card they approved me straight away £1500 limit, I nearly fell of the chair lol! Maybe they think they can make their money back!

WOW, that's amazing, so I guess they don't keep internal records of customers.

I think some companies have longer memories than others.

IIRC someone here who defaulted on their Barclaycard was refused a card several years later, even after it had dropped off their credit file, and told they would never be accepted again.

However, in practice, it might be difficult to enforce that; especially if they'd moved from the address they were defaulted at more than six years ago.

I also defaulted on a Barclaycard Dec 10 the dept was sold to Max Recovery, I applied for a new Barclaycard the same time as the Capital One card they approved me as well with £400 limit. So they didn't have an issue give me another card!
