    Reducing or increasing, you're asking for a new overdraft facility. Best to leave it as it is and gradually repay it until it's gone.

    You are effectively asking for a new limit for each reduction.

    It's pretty much at the bank's discretion if they wish to run ad-hoc credit search when your using any borrowing facilities.

    You might be better off using the piggy banking technique, if you have the tendency to overspend.
