Wedding Competition - Legal Advice

Hi All,
A relative of mine entered a competition to win a £5,000 wedding reception at a wedding fayre earlier in the year. She has since subsequently booked this venue for her wedding.
There was another wedding fayre at the venue recently which my relative couldn't attend, where the draw was made for the £5k prize.
My relative's name was called out as the winner (as advised by an acquaintance at the fayre) but they then re-drew another winner because my relative wasn't there. The terms and conditions of the draw did not state that you had to be present at the draw just provide contact details which were all provided.
As per the T&C's my relative should receive the prize - I would appreciate any advice if the venue does not honour the prize.

You want legal advice, pay a solicitor. Opinion is what you'll get on here, although there's very little to go on from what you've told us so I'm not sure how useful anything that's posted will be.

It may come down to proof. Does your acquaintance have proof your relatives name was called?0 -
I would get your relative to carefully check the T&Cs, then if nothing states she had to attend the prize draw, I would get her to call the venue asking how she can go about claiming her prize.

If the T&C's definitely don't mention anything about having to be present at the time of the draw and further action is considered, I think that the biggest hurdle will be getting verifiable proof that the relative's name was originally picked.
The organisers could simply deny this ever happened or say that the witness simply misheard the name.0
