Man with Van?

Can anyone recommend a "cheap man with van" in the London area? I have friends who are moving from Greenwich to Farringdon, and are looking for some help, but they all seem to be pretty expensive (50+ an hour).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hire a van and recruit friends... That's how we got from Oxford to City!

Thanks, that was one idea, but everyone is a bit squiffy about driving a large van around central London for some reason...

bite the bullet and hire a removals company, this saves time and stress. most of all you'd be amazed at the difference in the efficiency of having a vehicle loaded by a couple of professional removals men as opposed to yourself and a bunch of mates.

    Mel,

    I recommend a2b minimoves.

They were utterly professional, worked like trojans and were cheap at the price. I paid 100 for 2.5-3 hours ( bow to leytonstone) . Do a google, they are based on Bow- they travel nationwide.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...

Hi - I used this firm a few years ago and found them excellent. They're a long-established family firm and were very helpful and professional, as well as being reasonably priced:

    Jacob A G & Sons, 24 Norton Close, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7BQ
    01865 762524 : www.agjacobandson.co.uk

I suspect it may be cheaper to hire a firm from Oxfordshire to go into London and back out again than the other way around. Though, of course, since they're based closer to Farringdon, your friends wouldn't be able to get boxes and what not from them.

Okay, that one went t*ts up - the girl that agreed on Friday night to share a flat with my two friends has now changed her mind!

We have just moved we live in the north east and paid £42 and hour had to pay a minimum 3 hours, it was worth every penny, we worked it out like this, £100 to hire a van for a day (risk paying for any damages yourself eg tv / fridge freezer / couches etc ...) £126 for someone else to do all the hard work fully insured .. it was a easy decision. As it stood it went very smooth and they only broke a standed lamp (they told us they always break) the base snapped off and 2 hours after fully unloading our stuff they came back and repaired the lamp. it was deffinately worth the extra £26
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.
