Thats our metre reading. Seriously? £195 for a 3 bedroom is alot. We're using E'on at the moment. Do you think we should switch?

First of all you need to do some research to see if the bill you have is correct -- go back over the last 12/18 months - are the readings on your bills estimated or actual ? what tariff are you on ? do you send in / online your own readings every month ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Good morning Amazin and thanks for the piccy! However I'd suggest you block out the meter serial number please.

I agree with Robin9, I really need some more info.

Have we been billing you to accurate reads in the past? Are you now billed fully up to your own reads?

Is the £195 per month a Direct Debit to cover usage and a debit? Or have we calculated this to cover just the energy that you're using?

It's also worth thinking about what the energy is used for, Is your 3 bed flat electric only? What's the heating and how do you use the hot water? This will make quite a difference in the winter months and some electric heating can be quite expensive to be honest.

You have an economy 7 meter, what tariff are you on and is the best one for you?

I'm not able to post links, but we have lots of useful information on the website and looking through how to save energy and also looking at the tariff's. Economy 7 is normally (not always) most beneficial for property's with all electric and storage heaters, so this is something to look at maybe.

You can also use the Direct Debit manager tool on your online account, this will let you have more control over your own payments, have a look at this and see if it helps.

I won't go on and on until I know a bit more, but hope this helps a little for now.

    Helena :)

You are on Eco 7 for electricity so make sure the day/night has nt been transposed for your billing .Also check the timer switch. It will be either a radio teleswitch or an old analogue 24 hr timer clock. The radio teleswitch will be very accurate. It will switch over to the cheap rate at the advertised time for your area, usually between 12am and 8 am. The old analogue timers are frequently set wrong so that eg the cheap 7 hrs is coming on in the early evening. to get the best out of eco7 you need to do the heavy electric use, as well as your heating, in the cheap period. On the meter itself there is a little arrow at top left of the meter pointing down to the normal reading. You want it pointing up to the cheap rate for showers or clothes drying or ironing sessions or any heavy use appliances
  • In my experience with E.on, the best thing you can do is ditch them and quickly! I have had similar experiences with them in the past. They seem to have an uncanny ability to over-bill their customers!
