Anyone got a Sony DVDR HXD860? Can't get it back on!

I pushed the "power off" button on the front of the DVDR by accident and it won't go back on. Hubby did same thing about a month ago, but it ended up ok. He is away at the moment, and I don't know what he did to get it back on. Its not dead - the time is working - just can't get anything else to work. I've tried turning everything off and back on again. Am I missing something? Should I be doing something else??
