London trip - where to stay for easy access to these areas?

Ok, didn't get on too well with the apartment - was looking at £174 for the break, but then they want another £108 for an extra bed! Travelodge and premier inn both quite expensive. Any other tips on accommodation ?:snow_laug0

I do similar trips to London every few months (from Leamington Spa also, using £6 Advance single tickets to/from Marylebone of course).
I tend to stay in the Premier Inns further out, eg Watford and Croydon have both been around £30-40 a night on my last few trips and they're around 20 mins to get into central London. The Croydon one is especially good value and convenient as it's right next to East Croydon station with fast trains to Victoria (currently showing £39 and £29 for 27th/28th Feb respectively)0
