Could tv breakdown cover claim affect your building and contents quotes?

Hi folks,


As the title says could a claim for tv breakdown or accidental damage (such as can be taken out just after you buy the item) affect any quotes for home insurance?


I do know that when you go into a comparison site to ask for a quote for buildings and contents they often ask if any insurance claims.

I don't think that they ask about *any* claims, otherwise you would need to disclose, say, travel insurance and/or car insurance claims.

If so, what they ask is specifically about house and content claims, not about breakdown/damage insurances for separate items.

That said, I don't understand why anyone would want to pay for a breakdown cover while having free warranty and SoGA protection.

Well I am talking about an extended guarantee and accidental damage that usually covers 3-5 years.
