Five days ago my father had a minor heart attack resulting in him needing a stent put in. We were wondering what we need to tell his car insurance company and what the likely increase in premiums will be?
Thanks
Thanks

His Insurers will almost certainly ask if the DVLA have been informed (Not all medical problems need to be notified) and if any restrictions have been applied to his licence.
Car Insurers tend not to load for heart conditions.
The answer is to ring his Insurers0 -

You shouldn't be telling his insurer anything (to put it bluntly it's not your business)
There is no need to volunteer any info at all to the insurer. Any changes they need to be told about since the policy started will be set out in the policy.
Only if a condition has to be reported to DVLA do you have to inform the insurer (and almost certainly he won't need to report this to the DVLA).0 -
I had a heart attack nearly 2 years ago and had a total of 5 stents installed ....3 as an emergency and another 2 after an interval of 3 months. My understanding was that it was mandatory to inform my insurers about the heart attack and to desist from driving for a month. The stents didn't matter as far as insurance was concerned. One insurance company levied an admin. charge of a few pounds whilst the other one didn't. There was no effect on subsequent premiums. I think that it would be very unwise not to inform the insurers.0

It's a misunderstanding!
Your policy will set out what you must inform your insurer about, and you aren't required to tell them all your medical conditions!
The only time they come into it is if you have to inform DVLA!0
