We had a cat when I was young. One night a kitten followed my father home and stayed.

Original cat was not impressed and started visiting a neighbour.

Fast forward to the day said cat had kittens. Our cat came in, took one look at the cat and kittens, went out and never returned.

She moved in to the nieghbour's house full time.

I thnik it is 'some'cats that are lactose intolerant. It is similar with dogs. Some are affected, others are not.
  • Apologies. I mis-read. I read it that the neighbours have booted the cat out, because the new dog doesn't like it, and because the OP has been looking after him/feeding him, this reinforced what I thought... and so did the neighbour saying they can't get him rehomed.

However, I do stand by the rest of the post. I think the family in question seem to be a bit devil-may-care about the cat. They have had him for 13 years, and now are seemingly putting the new dog first, and seem to be OK with the cat not coming back to them. So they do seem rather callous IMO.

I think the cat is feeling unwanted and unwelcome in his own home and that is why he wandering off. If the OP could have him, I think she should. Have you asked them T Beckett?

Your basing your opinion on words written by the OP, who doesn't care whether he's taking a cat away from a child or not, so why assume he's telling it exactly as it is?

People who feed other cats because they think they look hungry/miaow a lot/always come calling at the same time/any other excuse here show a total disregard for the cat's owners.

People like the OP take cats away from families without a care in the world, so why believe a word he says about the actual owners?

He has his own agenda to justify his own bad behaviour.
  • As for the 'Cats are milk intolerant' debate. SOME cats are lactose intolerant, the same as SOME adults are.
Do we never give any human Milk because SOME cant have it? No. It's the same for cats.

Many cats will not drink milk even if you give it to them.
But other cats will drink it their entire life and never have a moments trouble.

    Please, no scaremongering.
  • Just to add to the topic of milk. Over the years we have had several cats, when I was a kid one cat Fluffy loved cows milk whilst another Sugar would not touch any kind of milk only drank water. The last 2, twins were bought up on cats milk as kittens and occasionally would drink dad goats milk if I forgot to buy their milk. I think its whatever they have been given as kittens helps.

A few years ago what we thought was a stray cat started to visit my brother for a few weeks we fed him and let him into the lounge to play and sleep, once he woke my brother would let him out. We then discovered by a neighbour he wasn't a stray and often went into nearly all the houses on the block. Brother stopped feeding him however he still to this day comes and visits my brother. If it rains and the cat is wet my brother will dry him let him sleep on the sofa or kitchen chair, once rain is over or cat wants to leave lets him out. Same with the fireworks period cat was meowing at back door, brother let cat in whilst fireworks were going off later let the cat out when it was safe. To be honest its how me and my brother have been bought up if a person or pet needs help we try and provide it. Also we are not quite sure which neighbour the cat belongs too, (my brother is blind so doesn't see which direction the cat goes once out the door) or if they provide an outdoor shelter or cat flap for the cat. My brother is annoyed that they let the cat roam whilst fireworks are on which is very dangerous.
