  • Some EXCELLENT news yesterday evening:

    I'M DIVORCED!!!! :j :T :j :T :j :T :j :T :j :T :j :T

I only found out because I emailed my solicitor to ask what was happening because I hadn't heard from her for a while and got an email back saying she'd written to me on 13th November enclosing a copy of my decree absolute!

So the question is, now that I can get the matrimonial home rights order off my flat, do I remortgage when my tracker runs out in February?

    PROs:
    • Interest rate if I don't is going to be 7.2%
    CONs:
    • With only £27.5k outstanding, it's not worth taking anything with a high arrangement fee - and that tends to be the lower rate deals
    • LIBOR is at a high and there's rumours that if the base rate gets cut next year, lenders won't be passing that on
    • Don't want to get locked into anything that won't let me overpay
    • I'm self-employed and don't have 3 years of accounts yet, making me sub-prime
I think I'll ask my broker to have a look round for me, but I doubt he'll be able to come up with anything that combats all those con points.

  • This is turning into a really good week :j

I think I'm set to break my eBay turnover record - on Monday and Tuesday I took £350 a day

And I've downloaded my email this morning to find an email from a new transcription client - not just a finding out email, but one that says I've got X to be transcribed, can you do it for me? :j :j

    Rah!

£700 in two days! That would pay off Xmas for me!

  • That's turnover, not profit - wish it was profit! I'll get to keep about £140 of it.

Email has just blipped with ANOTHER transcription job! I think I may be mostly-dead by the end of this week...

£140 from £350! That's a 60% deduction! I take it you are factoring in tax, p&p and materials and manhours etc?

Sounds like the level of ebay sales is a trend rather than a one off good week! Have you ordered the new range of stock?

Took new camera and lens to an indoor dressage event this weekend, in dreadful weather (dark all day and poured with rain) and it seems to have worked! Sold a decent number of pics and as long as they don't get sent back, it looks as though we're covered for winter bad weather. Just as well as the venue has booked us until next August.

I'm not sure what level of "hit rate" to aim for. I'm currently selling to 20-25% of people I take photos of. Any thoughts on whether that is good, bad or indifferent??

  • tsharp - £140 from £700! I work on the 'pile it high, sell it cheap' model! Yes, that takes into account stock cost, postage, packaging, eBay fees, Paypal fees, tax, Class 4 NI, labels, paper, toner - the works.

catshark - yes, the new range has been in for about 6 weeks now and is doing really well :D Congrats on getting the booking - I reckon 20-25% is pretty good.
