Halifax PPI

Keep being pursued by PPI claims companies. MSE recommends DIY. So today I contacted Halifax about a credit card and mortgage I took out with them several years ago (credit card still in use, mortgage paid off 14 months ago), and the Post Office about a credit card I have with them, enquiring if there was PPI on the accounts. I was told nothing appears on the accounts, that I had no PPI. My husband enquired after that about a credit card he has with Halifax. He was told nothing appeared on his account, but on further enquiry he was told he could take his query through a complaints procedure. (The inference during his conversation was that the operator did not have access to all relevant details pertaining to whether or not PPI applied to his credit card). He was put through to a different department and has now got a complaint under way, which Halifax will respond to within 8 weeks. Do I believe what I was told, or should I also go down a complaints channel?

The immediate staff member will be able to tell on some products but not others if you had PPI. Recent products or current ones are easy for them to see but historic ones are not.
In your case, you still use the credit card. So, you can obviously see if you had PPI as it appears on the statement each month if you do.
In the case of the mortgage, again its easy as it would be a monthly direct debit to the insurance if you had it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
