Ain't Gona happen buddy! It's a rigged market. If it dips see rates go negative, more help to buy esc schemes etc. 25% gifted deposit from the gov for first time buyers. Happened in oz just wait and see. They need private debt to increase for our economy to grow0

How about an anit-biotic apocalypse? I think that's suitably emotive :-)
We are on the cusp of a post anti-biotic era according to the BBC.
This could work in 2 ways.
Both population decline, but also less popularity of living in crowded places if infection might result in death.0 -

Where in Australia was there a 25% gifted deposit from the Government? The FHOG is administered on a state and territory basis not a Federal one.0 -

I am sure people spending huge proportions of their income on rents and mortgages and holding back funds that would otherwise be spent in the economy to fund large deposits for buying property does have a negative impact on the wider economy.
If you spend all your money on putting a roof over your head – or saving to pay for a roof over your head – you are spending less in the economy and also have less money to save for the long term (e.g. into a pension). That hits every other sector – although its great no doubt for banks/estate agents/developers.
Maybe that’s why the two wealthiest nations in Europe – Germany and Switzerland – have the lowest levels of home ownership?0 -

for everyone paying a large mortgage there is some-one receiving the money (and hint it is not the banks money, they borrow from some-else)
and what about the other rich countries that have higher home ownership?0 -

Sounds a lot like the Omega Man, I loved both versions of it, but sometimes when I see a dog in a movie, I just know that I am in for a very sad ending. My first thought of the re-make is that his dog died, it reduced the enjoyment of the film for me.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

That likely you think? The question was what would make it happen not whether it was likely.:DFew people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
