Fixed Price Boiler Repairs - any advice?

My central heating boiler has developed a fault and a friend has suggested it might be best to get a Fixed Price Boiler repair as the parts needed may be very expensive.
I see there are quite of lot of firms who claim to offer Fixed Price Boiler repairs but can anyone please recommend a good one (or ones to avoid)?
Thanks.

What's the fault ?
Boiler make & model ?
Fixed priced repairs are normally done by the manufacturer, BG can & do work out quite expensive depending on what the prob isI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Thanks. We have a Halstead Boiler Eden SBX 30 (about 7 years old and worked generally ok over this period) which is playing up a bit.
When heat starts being demanded it runs for about a minute and then trips (often showing LEDs 2 & 4). A few minutes later, it repeats this cycle, and so over a period of an hour or two it the water (CH and HW) gradually gets hotter. When it gets to a certain temperature it stops tripping out and then runs normally for a couple of hours or so until the time switch goes off.
Also, when the time switch is off, the pump sometimes runs for period of about 3 minutes eg in the middle of the day and night (not just overrunning after the system switches off).
The two sensors have been changed but that didn't fix the problem.
Friend thinks it may now be the PCB - hence the suggestion to try a fixed price repair company...?0 -
I hardly ever get insurance cover on anything i buy, but the CH cover is something i wouldn't be without.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
