Company car - advice is to appeal early, but how early?

Hi, as a newbie and a company car user, I've read the 'newbie thread' and specifically the advice to company car users in receipt of a PCN. It says to 'appeal early' but how early is early? I've contacted the lease company to tell them not to pay the fine but at what stage do I contact the private parking company?

its not a fine
the newbies thread says day 20 or thereabouts if I remember correctly
it used to be around day 25 for BPA members0 -
As above, and when dealing with hire/lease company's never ever refer to a private parking ticket as a fine when communicating with hire and lease company's this is incredibly important if you refer to it as a fine or penalty or anything like that you will create a huge amount of work for yourself.
A lot of hire/lease companys have a clause in the T&Cs stating they will automatically pay fines and penalties, and charge the end user an admin fee on top, combine that with the fact that many of these company's dont understand the difference between a private charge and a real fine and you are off onto a difficult start at the begining.
That is why you need to get the challenge in early, to take it away from the hire/lease company's. If you do it right the hire/lease company will never know about the charge and a whole lot of work and trouble will be avoidedFrom the Plain Language Commission:

Thanks. I referred to it as a Parking Charge Notice when I wrote to the lease company and asked them not to pay it. I may have missed the boat however as I received the PCN on 6th Nov so they may have already written to the lease company...0

if its a windscreen pcn then you clearly have not understood the newbies thread
a PPC cannot get the RK details from the DVLA until AFTER day 28 if they issue a windscreen ticket, hence why your appeal must reach them BEFORE day 280 -
This ^^^^^^ you have PLENTY of time as long as it's a BPA member. Which PPC? Some IPC members only allow 21 days to appeal.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Not really a company but a trading name of Robert Ley.
However with tickets you cannot contract with Kernow Parking Solutions unless it is identified as a trading style - which from the tickets we've seen it does not.
Our advice would be to take a copy of the ticket to Citizens Advice or Trading Standards.
If you have any examples of these tickets we'd appreciate copies"

Just play it as the NEWBIES thread says (first appeal using the template, not saying who was driver - you will have to call yourself the KEEPER - not 'registered keeper'). Then come back when you get a rejection letter, having researched some recent POPLA appeal wording. We won't write one from scratch so you need to read other examples and understand from looking at other people's threads in the same boat, how to distinguish your case away from the Beavis case.
We'll help once you show us what you are working on at POPLA stage. You'll win as long as you follow our advice and don't miss the deadlines.

Thanks for all your advice. Does the below wording look OK to you? Anything else I should add?
Dear Sirs
Re: PCN No. ....................
I challenge this 'PCN' as keeper of the car and I will complain to the landowner about the matter if it is not cancelled.
You must either offer me a POPLA code, or cancel the charge.
I have kept proof of submission of this appeal and look forward to your reply.
Yours faithfully,

Anyone? Not sure if I need to keep the landowner bit in.0
