Hello
I know this question sounds a bit thick but here goes.
I have never downloaded or streamed anything. So i was wondering what is the difference. Is one better or cheaper than the other. Also does one mean you own the track/video & the other doesn't.
I am determined to leave my Tecnophobe days behind.
Thanks

downloading it stays on your hard disk, streaming it doesn't, same as watching or recording tv
neither is better or cheaper, and unless you paid for it, you don't own itDon't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -

It doesn't matter if you pay for it you never own it you only have a license to view it and sometimes the downloads are very restricted with DRM (Digital Rights Management) so you can only play the media on certain devices.0 -
Thanks for the advice.
As i would want to burn any music to cd & video to dvd. I take it the way to go is downloading? As i assume you can't do that with streaming?
Thanks0 -
Streaming is akin to watching "live" ,
The program downloads as you are watching it, and the bits you have watched are discarded.
Downloading results in you ending up with a file on your computer, that you can watch at your leisure.
Please note though, that if you download a movie "file", you cant just burn that to a DVD and watch it in a DVD player .. It would have to be converted to the correct format.
Hope that helps a bit.0 -

just to expand on this, streaming is usually virtually instant, downloading USUALLY requires you to have got the entire file before you can start watchingDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
There are free download programs which can convert the file, or you can use a free one like Any Video Converter to convert to any file format.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”
