Norwich Traffic Control

I took my disabled son to a Mcdonalds as a reward, their was no parking spaces and we don't have a blue badge, So i pulled onto the public road outside and spotted a space, I couldn't see a normal 'time' sign so thought all was ok. No lines on road, other cars parked there. So parked up, it wasn't til after I came out i noticed a yellow parking fine on the driver window. I was shocked as I thought I had parked sensibly (Never had a parking fine before). So, I looked round and saw some yellow signs (Norwich Traffic Control) saying it was a permit only area. Now, as it was a public road I wasn't looking for private signs, I want to appeal, do I have grounds to. I looked in the newbies section but couldn't see anything regarding private company fining on a public road.
TIA

It can't be a public road, must be a Housing Association or residents roadway? Can you tell us the postcode and road?

IPC member so no appeal worth trying (don't fall for their bull about the 'IAS'):

    http://www.theipc.info/aos-members/n

Does not mean you pay this scam fake PCN though! IPC members and the kangaroo court called the IAS, are covered in the NEWBIES thread, post #1 and #3.

    :)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I can assure you that you still have not had a "fine"

you have had a private invoice from a parking company, but no parking company can "fine" you, you made that part up

dont give it creedence for something it isnt

its a speculative invoice from ex cowboy clampers who are in the kangaroo court section (the IPC)

if it was a public road it would be council and council tickets, so its NOT a public road, its a private road with "permit only" parking (from your account)

please dont make stuff up , tell it like it really is in order to get proper advice

no private parking company can ticket you on a public road
  • I can only apologise for using the wrong terminology. I have been looking all night and I can't see how it is a 'private' road. Check the above roads on Google. I honestly don't want to mislead anyone. I will be calling the council tomorrow to check on its status. I have even parked out there before and on the google maps streetview it shows it prior to having these signs up.

I fail to see how a google map can tell you the difference between a public road and a private road , especially if it hasnt been updated for some time

on the map it looks like a retail park to me , on or near an airport

I can tell you that if the parking charge is legitimate then its a private road, because councils enforce public roads and NTC cannot ticket anyone on a council road

by all means ask the council, they should know if they enforce on the road or roads there
  • Ok, this is the first time I have ever had a parking ticket, I apologise for not being up on all the 'speak' I was asking you to look because I wanted you to see where my confusion lies. I just wanted a bit of advice, even though it is a costly lesson it is a learning curve, I maybe a little naive when it comes to this, but I certainly don't believe I have done anything to justify the manner you have come across. I guess I will just pay if I don't get any joy from the council tomorrow.

my points are that its not a fine and its not a public road, by all means prove me wrong if you can do so. I can only go off "your story and your comments"

once you have understood how this happened and why you can then make an informed decision on what to do next

it doesnt help us to help you when you give us incorrect information , so all I am asking is that you stick to the facts

ie:- if the council says its a private estate (which it seems to be to me looking at google maps like you asked) , then NTC may have the right to enforce the parking there (or they may not) - I have never known google maps being able to differentiate between the two anyway, I dont think its even in their remit

it would be better if you took the view that you received a private parking invoice for contravening rules on a private retail park, then decide what to do once you know what you are dealing with

my comments are purely to help you understand the true nature of your predicament and if you ask for advice you cannot really complain if people pull you up on inconsistencies or inaccuracies. after all , you asked us to check google maps using those postcodes

if you went into a pub and paid for a pint of lager, and were given half a pint of bitter , you have the right to pull the barman up despite it being a liquid with alcohol in it ;)

ie:- wrong measure and incorrect contents , even worse if he gave you water instead :)

No, don't pay - we don't want you to be ripped off for taking your disabled son to McDonalds!

Also if you just pay, you would be perpetuating the scam and funding the next ticket against a little old lady or vulnerable family. Can you do that? I couldn't. We are telling NOT to pay it and we want to assist you.

It's not even a real parking ticket! NTC are not a Local Authority.

We want to help you but it's important to know where this was, which is why we asked.
