  • Natwest will give you a solo/maestro depending on your account.
  • I called Barclays today and they told me I couldn't get a regular Visa with my account, and told me I should visit my local branch. At the counter they told me again that I couldn't get a regular Visa with my account and said I should go to personal banking, I asked them and they told me they don't issue Electrons anymore and that they've arranged for a replacement. Apparently it won't be an Electron so fingers crossed, because I'm sick of the thing. I think if I do get an Electron I'll go get an account with another bank.

I wish I had done this sooner, I missed the whole £10 off with Google checkout because of my Electron -_-

HSBC automatically upgraded my card to a Switch (now Maestro) card with £100 cheque guarantee facility when I was on their 16/17 account (Right Track) - I think their criteria was a minimum of £300/month coming into the account, my evening job while I was studying put my account over that amount :)
