I have been given an old pc for my young son to use.I have added avg, adaware etc and ran them and everything seems to run very well for him .On start up each time it asks me if I wish to boot up using windows xp home or pro.I select pro and hit enter and everything works fine. How do I get rid of the xp home option as I guess it's has two seperate operating systems installed which if I am right would be taking up valuable resorces? Thanks in advance for any help

Having two operating systems installed won't take up any resources while one of them is running but you will free up some disk space by getting rid of the one you don't use.
Get rid of the one you're not licensed for if you want to be legal.0 -
Thanks guys for your help I will give this a try !!!0

ahh ok.. do you have one hard drive or two in the computer? if its two hard drives then its likely each one has an operating system installed.
you CAN get rid of one, but it would require formatting that particular hard disk drive and losing the data on it. (the other one would be fine) One solution is to copy accross any data you particularly want to keep to the hard drive with the operating system on you want to keep. then when you format the one you dont want itl be fine.
im pretty sure you must have two... very unusual for 2 OS to be installed on one hard drive!0 -

Have you tried booting into XP Home? This will tell you whether it is actually on there or not.0
