No Claims Bonus Overlap

I would be very grateful for any advice, I'm between a rock and a hard place.
I insured my car with Insure Pink, part of the Hastings group, I was happy with the quote and went for it. They asked me send proof of my NCB, which i did from my previous insurer, I had no idea (naively) that you can't overlap this and mine was overlapping by a couple weeks (I still had to sell my old car, now sold) So my options now to pay the doubled insurance quote or a leaving fee which is more expensive. Even if I reinsure with them I still have to pay a massive deposit, either way Im financially flattened!! I cannot afford to do either of these. Help please?

  • What do you mean by "mine was overlapping by a couple weeks" ? Do you mean you took out the new policy when the old one was still in force ? If so then surely you just need to tell your old insurer that you don't want to renew with them this year. All you've "lost" is a couple of weeks' worth of insurance when you were covered by 2 policies.
