Content Filtering and WiFi access

Netgear, Draytek, OpenDNS, Linksys, Netnanny.... hmmmm

I need a solution that will protect inappropriate content from the web, and also police access times for devices. It looks like Netgear live parental control meets these criteria, but are there any limitations with it? and is it the best?

Which? only seem to review USB modems, and not really anything like this. PC Mag do some reviews, but nothing conclusive.

Anyone got any advice on this. Network to have approx 6-10 devices, non-adult filtering, time restrictions, and possibly AV and IPS if poss.

thanks

Stately trees seem to brush the deep blue sky. Clouds billow to form magestic peaks. The songs of birds fill the air creating symphony upon symphony

Many modem/routers have content protection built in to them ... blocking sites by keywords for example. I know my old Netgear DG834G had this. (Also access time controls and also allowed you to define an "always allowed" connection, so you could set it to always allow your PC but block others by both time AND keyword).

let the isp do it, and point the router at an opendns server
Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand

Unless you're on stupid Virgin Media, where the router can't have an alternate DNS setting applied. Stupid VM

It can also be 'un-set' by users that aren't mean to do so...

Much better to secure at the ISP or the router
