Neither have I and my kids have a totally different career from their grandparents and parents.
  • Well dad has been a coachbuilder all his life, Mum has been various things, Sales Trainer, Seamstress, Childminder, Carer

While I first studied engineering, I later went down the accountancy route, as did my older brother. My younger brother and elder sister have drifted through various things.

I can sew though, but I would never dream of doing it for a living

Yes, my dad left the police force and became a lorry driver. I run a haulage business. Used to love going out with the truck with him when I was a nipper, it's in my blood now .

  • No, my mother was a teacher and lecturer and my dad worked in the housing business.

I've just kind of drifted and never really had a clear direction.

My brother has followed my maternal grandfather in the medical profession.

    Yes and No,

My dad worked for the city council for a number of years (not sure what doing I was too young to take notice). Then he was a director for a college.

My mother did admin for a number of years for a church and a local charity. Then she moved to a Housing Association doing tenancy involvement and she's still there.

So their working lives have always been in the public sector.

I worked for the DWP, then a Housing Association in different capacities. Currently a Business Intelligence Consultant for a council.

So, public service like my parents. BUT I'm soon to be moving into the private sector as a consultant.

Nope. My mum is a physiotherapist and my dad is an engineer.

I went to University to study Law and I initially went into asset management and start my new job on Monday training to be a Chartered Tax Advisor.

    Not at all.

My mum has been a sales assistant for a large department store, picker and packer for a distribution company, mushroom harvester, children's toy maker, newsagent distributor taking orders and lots of other things. My dad has been a labourer working in a tile factory, tram operative fixing trams, bin man driving the lorries picking up commercial bins, recycling operative sorting glass and managing deliveries at the recycling centre, truck driver of flat bed trucks, fork lift driver, park gardener and much much more.

No I've not done any of those things...but I've also had dozens of jobs too.
