Do you mean that you think that you haven't been able to come up with enough variables for the study? Or that you know what variables you want to investigate but that you aren't able to provide evidence from previous studies to back up a null/ hypothesis?

Because to be quite honest with you, I'm a little confused about what exactly you are finding difficult regarding your project.
  • Ok like i mentioned i'd like to examine whether there are gender differences in cannabis use and depression (does that make sense or should i re-word it?)

Sample size: 100 (50:50 ratio) is that a sufficient sample size? should i target a certain group i.e adolescents or just do it randomly anyone over the age of 18.

The variables I think I should address to examine the above are the following (please could you let me know if these are reasonable and if there is a need to make any additions): Please note these will be assessed via a self report questionnaire.

    1.Age
    2.Dose of cannabis
    3.Medical condition
    4.other drugs interactions
    5.Genetic predisposition
    6.Social class
    7.Employment status

    Survey Questions

    1.
    Initiation of cannabis use

    2.
    Regularity or pattern of use

    3.
    motivation underlying use

    4.
    Are any other drugs taken?

    5.
Have you suffered from or have a family history of depression in your family?

    6.
is cannibis used as a coping strategy? if so report effects; did it worsen symptoms of depression?

    7. did they improve depressive symptoms

I dont know if the above questions are directed appropriately in examining the main objective of the study? What do u think? could you make any suggestions?

I dont know how to approach the literature review, what should i be looking for when scanning through journals? sorry u must percieve me as a right pain in the bum! (dont mean to be judgemental)

    Your help is much appreciated.
