You arenot supposed to stuff turkeys with stuffing as it dries ir out. My mum cuts a lemon in quarters and an onion into quarters and its moist.

I've been stuffing turkeys for almost 40 years & have never had a dry one! Two stuffings inside (one very herby one & one fruity one) + a sausagemeat one under the skin & in front of the breast. The moisture from the internal stuffings & the basting the breast gets from the sausagemeat gives me a beautifully moist bird every time.

Thanks. I don't usually go in for home delivery so will have another check in Tescos.

What about calling the nearest Co-op to ask before making a wasted trip? Or Co-op Customer Services if you've had them before.

    Thanks. Will try that, too

Sorry but that is wrong, stuffing if anything helps baste the bird.

The only reason I have seen for not stuffing the cavity is it takes longer to cook, but if you prepare it properly it should not dry out.

I cook mine upside down for part of the time as well so that the juices run down to the breast.
  • MAKRO here in Europe sells frozen turkeys. I sometimes had those in the past. My partner is a cardholder with access to the shop so he buys it.
When I still was able to go to grocery shops I never saw whole frozen birds in our regular grocery shops.

You will need a card to get one in Makro so its only good if you have a business or know someone that has.

  • They had a fair selection in Herons Foods, I think I paid £3.50 for a 1kg bird last week, the variety of the sizes always increase the closer you get to Christmas, and I think it was the same in Farmfoods.
  • I'm having one of these for Christmas Dinner... Bootiful!
