Non-basted frozen turkeys?
Has anyone seen these on sale anywhere? Ready-basted turkeys are everywhere now but are no good for us. (Too much salt.) In recent years we've got ours from the Co-op but the nearest big store is quite a way away & I'd like to avoid a wild turkey chase! I want a whole turkey (not a crown) around 4kg.
Thanks

Local Butchers? Mine are taking orders now.

I've seen them in Tesco. We buy one most years from there.0

Thanks for the replies, folks. Unfortunately, the only "local butcher" around here is Halal (nothing against Halal per se but ludicrously expensive!) & our Tesco only stocks ready-basted whole birds & unbasted crowns.
The search continues!0 -
Have you tried online meat retailers? I use Westin Gourmet and they have been good.0

Thanks, BB34. Have just looked at Westin but they're all 5kg+ & would be even more expensive than the Halal butcher.0

Does it need to.be the whole bird? If anyone likes the leg meat, get a unabated crown and a turkey leg. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Needs to be a whole bird as I stuff mine. I went down the crown + leg road last year but it wasn't the same without the flavours which the stuffings add to the meat + a whole bird looks rather more celebratory.0

What about calling the nearest Co-op to ask before making a wasted trip? Or Co-op Customer Services if you've had them before.0

You arenot supposed to stuff turkeys with stuffing as it dries ir out. My mum cuts a lemon in quarters and an onion into quarters and its moist. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
