Mono or colour? For light use you cannot do better than a Samsung mono laser for economy-no inkjet print heads to dry up due to lack of regular use.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I agree with macman. For light use a laser, even a cheap colour laser is a good buy.
My parents were infrequent users and were for ever having problems when they did want to print due to dried up ink.
I tried to persuade them to get a laser but they wouldn't have it. I saw a basic Samsung mono laser in the sale for £49 and bought it simply to save me having to spend ages getting their inkjet working every tie they wanted to print something.
That was a couple of years ago and it never lets them down and they are delighted with it.One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
I think colour is what we want.0

I echo what others have said, go down the cheap laser route. I got a Samsung CLP320 a few years back and haven't once had an issue with having to clean anything before I can start printing.
My old inkjets were complete nightmares, always.Pants0 -
Colour for documents or colour for photo prints?
For the first, a cheap colour laser .... for the second, it would probably be an inkjet.
Really depends on the type of printing you do as much as anything else. Other factors you need to mention ... do you want just a printer or a multi-function scan/copy machine ? How much space do you have ? Do you want single or double sided printing ? A4 or larger ?0 -
I will have to check with the boss aka my wife about the scanner question, personally I almost never need a printer and think it is more hassle than it is worth.0

I spoke to my wife and she said ideally scanner and photocopier as well0

I have a 5 year old HP all in one inkjet printer for colour printing, scanning and copying, and I've recently bought a Samsung mono laser for high volume stuff. I paid extra for a M2835DW as it does automatic double sided printing which will save on paper.0

This "free" Dell costs a bit, but it comes with 4 sets of toner. If you are printing 100 pages per month and each toner set lasts for 2000 pages then you would have more than 6 years supply of toner.
Laser printers don't clog either.
It looks like a pretty big printer, so check it isn't too big.0
