Double refund?

I had this situation, I refunded a buyer via paypal, and there was a case open. The case automatically picked up that I had refunded via paypal and stayed open until payment was cleared.
As long as you haven't sent money to them direct to their paypal account you'll be fine...
As they paid by guest, your echeque will clear paypals end then they will refund his card not his paypal. Paypal like to sit on eCheques, possibly to gain interest for their company.
I did NOT send money direct to their paypal, when i was told the buyer reported a problem by eBay, on the problem details page there was a "Issue a Refund" button and i did it that way, it then took me to PayPal (which is why i said it was done through PayPal, because essentially it was!).
So i think eBay may actually have a partial record somewhere of me having started a refund but because it hasnt cleared they are still persuing this as if i havent.
Anyway if i have to call the police and they dont help, then i'll goto small claims court (thanks to all for the suggestion on that)0 -
Just an update guys (thanks again for all the advice given
), the buyer returned the machine. Hard disk was missing, data cables have their pins bent, ethernet expansion card is missing its heat sink and the power supply seems to have been removed and re-inserted very badly. screws have been re-inserted incorrectly so the case has ruptured in those areas due to stress.
Have contacted eBay to appeal the case and PayPal have stopped the eCheque. eBay did advise if the refund does go through their system should flag up that an appeal is pending (she said appeals cant go through until a case is closed but she has logged it anyway) and revoke the refund until its resolved. So i've made sure to take pictures.
Not even sure how the buyer thought he'd get away with such bad damage.0
