Charged twice buying from Argos

If you've recently purchased from Argos using your credit card check your statement as there has been a glitch resulting in some double payments to accounts.
Purchased a cooker from Argos on the 30th October only to be charged twice due to some kind of glitch as I was informed by the customer service guy after a wait of only 48.35 minutes for connection and an array of various classical favourites. I checked my statement today to see what I had spent only to find an over limit charge plus interest charge on my account thanks to this glitch, So glad I checked my account otherwise I might have never found the overpayment problem, Argos will reimburse the charges after receiving evidence of said charges and the usual sorry for any inconvenience banter. Will also be asking for some compensation for the credit smear with my credit card company, we'll see if anything comes my way.
Argos does not represent what it says on the label, delivery and customer service is really wanting.

You should always check your statements. You almost make it sound as though you did it as a one off. Many, perhaps most, of the problems people post about here are related to not reading statements or contracts.
You should have reported this to your card provider. They would have corrected the "credit smear".
The second transaction was, effectively, unauthorised. However, I believe there is a Chargeback code for double dipping.0 -
You must inform your credit card provider what has occurred. The duplicate transaction can then be disputed and any adverse credit reporting reversed. The over limit charge and any interest charged on the second transaction must also be refunded BY THE CREDIT CARD PROVIDER NOT ARGOS. It is essential that it be done that way in order to ensure that any adverse credit reporting is corrected.0
