6 years

I have 2 defaulted accounts on my file that are nearing 6 years old. The chances of me settling them are remote as they are £16k.
Will they disappear of my file after 6 years never to darken my door again?

They will disappear from the credit account section of your report 6 years from the initial recorded default date. All trace will be removed, and nothing about them can be re-added there.

Only way they could possibly impact your credit report again is if a CCJ is obtained for them, which you fail to pay within one calendar month of the judgment date.

Can never say for sure, but for that sumor sums, unless there is a legal bar to them taking court action, then I would say a reasonable chance. See more court claims than you used to, and many for a lot less than that.
