window 7 installing update problems

I have tried loads of things but after downloading 53 updates, my pc fails to install always getting stuck after 1 or 2 downloads.
I have tried the windows 'fix it' but without success.
Is there an easy way to get this sorted??

    First run chkdsk to see if there are any disk errors.

    After that try these troubleshooting steps:

    If no luck, change Windows Update setttings to "let me chose the updates" then install one(or 2, or 3) at a time. See if there's a particular disliked update.

    Agree with that good advice and make sure you select them in date release order since some updates will be dependant on a successful installation of an earlier update.
