Hi, up until a couple of days ago I could look up a Facebook page via Google and read through the posts, now I'm just getting a please log in page. I don't have an account and really don't want one, I just want to access up to date news and info from a couple of Facebook pages.
Any one know if this is still possible or have Facebook changed their requirements?

Depends whether the content you want to read is public or not.
If it's public, you can see it. Otherwise you, um, can't
This is determined by they who write the content on the page. If they don't want it public, that's up to them.0 -
If you just want to read then Twitter is much easier. Most people I know never tweet and just read. You get up to date news all in one go. You can make a list, say "news" and combine all sources you want in a single newsfeed. Ie. bbc news, guardian, mirror, independent, itv news, france24, daily mail, local news, etc etc.0

Hi, thanks for replies. It would definitely be public and not private accounts, one is a local event which updates details weekly on their facebook page. Now when I look up the page it greys out and a box telling me to log in comes up. Been accessing it for over a year without problem but few days ago this log in page has been appearing instead. Have tried clearing history, cookies.0

Hey, try to clear your browser's cookies and see if this brings any luck.Men talk of killing time, while time quietly kills them.0 -

Hey Delia, have you ever tried reading the post that you quote?0 -
Sounds like they have changed it from public to private page for the event. Can someone with Facebook check it out for you, it says near the top what type of event it is, public, private or secret. Secret only invited guests can see anything, private anyone can see title of page but nothing else, public the whole world can see0

Hi, it's on every facebook page I try. Just tried several random well known pages (eg Manchester United Football Club, the BBC) and the same greyed out log in page appears. Can someone try accessing Facebook without logging in to see if they get the same thing? If so maybe Facebook have altered something.0

Just make an account. Use a fake name if you don't want to use your own.Friendship is like peeing on yourself. Everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warm feeling that it brings0

I can view those Man Utd & BBC facebook pages with no problem, the only log in message is "X is on Facebook. To connect with X, sign up for Facebook today." near the top of the page but you can still view the rest of the page just fine.
I'd either try deleting cookies for facebook and/or cache, or like ricardinho88 just make a dummy account for using on facebook.0 -
I've just got my minor use of Facebook (no account) to work in Firefox (Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> History page) by
a) blocking cookies from http://www.facebook.com and
https://www.facebook.com
b) deleting existing facebook.com cookies
Whether the first item is needed or not, I don't know.0
