credit cards in jersey channel islands

Can anyone help? Keep being knocked back for credit cards as my postcode is in Jersey and the lenders state not part of the UK. Have had cards in past. Looking for interest free balance transfers and purchases.... who sees Jersey as the UK?

If your postcode is in Jersey presumably you are? So visiting a local bank should work. I doubt if Jersey has a law about not allowing residents credit cards.

. who sees Jersey as the UK?

    Nobody, because it isn't.

"Jersey is a self-governing parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarchy, with its own financial, legal and judicial systems,[11] and the power of self-determination.[12]"

"It is not part of the United Kingdom,[14] and has an international identity separate from that of the UK,[15] but the United Kingdom is constitutionally responsible for the defence of Jersey.[16] "

As dzug1 says, I expect you'll need to go to a local branch to get a card issued, I'm not sure whether it will be issued by the UK bank or by the relevant offshore institution (eg RBS International).

Here's a list of all the banks in Jersey, some of them are your local branch of the big names (as opposed to all the 'offshore' institutions), you could try them for advice:

Don't know specifically about Jersey but in Gibraltar, separate from any offshore banking activities, Natwest, Norwich and Pererborough Building Society and Barclays maintain normal UK branches to provide normal banking facilities to the normal population. I would imagine something similar applies in Jersey. Try asking your own bank for a card.
