Avira - Best free antivirus ? Not sure

    antivirus is for wimps imho. haven't used it for years and not had any problems. just need to make sure pc up to date with patches and don't click any dodgy links or give third parties information which may cause you problems in the future

    The antivirus game is changing all the time. Personally I check AV COMPARATIVES from time to time

    A sandbox will probably cure the majority of your surfing problems, but if you download a lot, then it is a slight chore to move things out to another location.

    Avira is just too aggressive in its upsell these days. Its detection rate is top notch though.

    I kind of work on the basis that any piece of software that automatically tried to opt you in to an installation of an ask toolbar and change your search and homepage to ask, is by its very nature unsafe.

    For the vast majority of home users any of the top 7 or 8 will be fine and the only differences people will notice is the UI and any nags.
    Find the one that you prefer and stick with it.
