Does the norton security come as part of the bt broadband package? or is it a seperate product that you bought?
if you have a seperate CD for the norton security, this usually indicates you have to install it seperately. it shouldn't matter which you install first, the bt software or the norton package. once norton is installed it will probably require a system restart, but from that point on it will always load up when windows starts automatically to save you having to do anything!. in otherwords it will ALWAYS be on (unless you manually turn ot off) so you dont have to do anything special before you go online.
the first time you access the internet after installing norton security, a window will probably pop up very soon after doing so from norton, informing you that it detects something trying to connect to the internet, and asking if it is ok for it to let it connect. you should select 'permit' (not 'block') and you are telling norton to let your pc connect to the internet using the bt software. it might ask for permission for a few things in quick succession, this is normal and permit them. (NB: it will usually say 'recommended' next to permit if you are unsure)
from that point on it shouldn't ask you again for permission. if it does pop up and ask you for permission again for anything it will be because another program on your computer is trying to get access... so at this point look to see if norton reccommends that you should permit it, or if you are specifically trying to run anything that needs to connect to the internet and know it is ok to let it connect, allow it to connect. if it is a program that you are unsure of just select block.
hope that helps! just ask if you ahve anymore questions0 -

ah thats even easier
less to worry about!
do you just have one disc to install bt software?
if you just have one disc that came with the bt package to install the bt software, it should all install automatically with that
once again, after you install it it shouldnt require you to do anything and should run automatically each time you turn your computer on(so no need to worry if its on or not!)
one of the best ways to check if its on is to look at the little taskbar in the very bottom right of your windows desktop, just to the left of the little clock. The norton program (if i remember correctly!!) should be a little yellow circle type thing and if you hover over it for a while it should pop up and say norton.
hmm i could be completely on the wrong track though!! havent used a homehub yet. if its the case that you dont have to install anything atall onto your pc (for example bt may not have sent you any cds or disks atall) then it could be installed on the homehub itself, and again you have no need to worry
If you still arent sure the best bet is to call the bt helpline they are usually really helpful!0 -
hi pal.
ok first thing get rid of norton. it slows down ur pc. doesnt stop virus's and costs u.
plenty of people will back me up on this.
use AVG
or
antivir
my personal favourite.
u wont need BT software or drivers we can sort out ur internet without that software0 -
