Sky dish + sat receiver = more channels???

Options
We have a newish Sky dish from when the previous owners lived here. Can I connect this to a satalite receiver like this one in Lidl and get any extra channels?

  • I would say you need to find a sky man working on your street and get the Mrs to go and "have a chat" while wearing something skimpy
I doubt anything you buy from a super market will work with a sky dish as sky disable the signal from their end to your dish so it would be pointless(I may be wrong) however IF and it is a big if you get on the right side of a sky van man "aparrently" there is a way of getting sky for a one off fee payable in cash to the said sky man and they even leave you software for your PC so you can re-scramble your card and get it all working again ;)
Before you ask no I don't know anyone that has had this done it was just a rumour from the bloke in the pub whose neighbours dogs best mates owner has a nephew who used to work for them kind of thing
It is very MSE though so should fit in well here :money:

Without sounding too harsh, that is the biggest load of utter twaddle that I have read on here in ages.:rotfl:

For your information, the Lidl Receiver will work with a Sky Dish, however it will not perform as well as a Sky Receiver.

Is it not like the old Astra ones where you could just repoint the dish and see what satalite it picked up?

It can be re-alligned, but with digital it is more or less all or nothing signal wise, so not as straightforward as it was in analogue days, apart from the fact that there are hardly any english channels that are " Free to Air " that are worth watching.

Well there are BBC THREE, BBC FOUR, BBC NEWS 24 ,Sky News, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 to name but seven. I find most of these worth watching sometimes.
