Digital Car Radio?

Hi I was hoping to get some advice! I want to buy my OH a digital car radio but don't want the added expense of paying to get it installed so I have found a couple of plug and play devices on Amazon. Autodab Go car stereo and Pama Plug N 820 Dab radio, both are under £90 and get fairly good reviews but I was hoping someone could give me an honest opinion! I really don't want to spend over £100 but obviously want to get the best one possible, any ideas or feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Halfords not doing free fitting? They usually do free fitting on radios over a certain price this time of year.0

Do Halfords do fitting for DAB units yet? I tried to get them to fit one a while back on my FIat Stilo and apparently the aerial is different to the one for AM/FM radios so they couldn't / wouldn't fit it in my car.
In the end I got an affordable adaptor off ebay to plug it into my existing aerial and had a local garage fit it, but the reception is pretty poor so I wouldn't recommend it. Eventually I'll do what I should have done in the first place and get a window mounted DAB aerial and feed it through my dashboard out of the way.0 -
I've had one of these fitted for the last six months:
http://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/dab-car-stereos/sonichi-s100-digital-radio-adaptor
and would really recommend it. The only fault I would say is that the buttons are not illuminated in the dark.
I bought a separate DAB aerial with an extension lead to enable me to mount the aerial at the rear of my Mondeo estate.
Mine is attached to the dashboard with velcro, and plays back through the fitted radio via the Aux facility."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

Just bought my wife a Pama PNG1220. It's very good.
I have a SONICHI (Halfords) adapter which is also very good, but does require additional aerial.

For best results you need something like this to go with the radio...0

I wouldnt bother with DAB in a car. I have DAB on my 2010 Mondeo as standard but signal keeps dropping out and it is so annoying that I just use FM! Can your husband tell the difference between FM radio and DAB radio in audio quality, I certainly cant!0

Both my wife and I both have DAB in our cars and the signal rarely drops out at all. Usually due to the local geography. Hills and mountains tend to block the signal.
Quality isn't a deciding factor, being able to listen to radio station not available on FM is.0 -
I have DAB as standard in my Fiesta and wouldn't be without it. Yes, there does seem a few 'flat spots' locally where the signal drops, but if there is an FM equivalent the radio switches over automatically. Overall it's worth it just for the extra stations.0
