I have booked direct with the ferry operator before on their website and had no problems.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

You don't say which islands, but you don't generally need to book in advance for inter-island travel. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Athens to Naxos then iOS and finally to Santorini. The cyclades. In debt no more!0

It is not normally necessary to book ferry tickets on those routes in advance if you're travelling in June as they have plenty of capacity Also, you will still have to go to the agent at the port of whoever you book with to collect your tickets - you can't print them off.0

One of the great things about Greek island hopping is its flexibility and you won't have to book any tickets in advance.Buy them on the day you travel and keep your plans flexible to take into account whether you want to stay longer or not.
Also the Cyclades have the best transport links of all the islands.
Likewise there's no need to advance book accommodation, particularly in June when it's busy but not PACKED as in July and August.
This is one of the best websites for independent travel and planning.

I've booked with them quite a few times. You just do the booking online, then collect the tickets from their local agent to where you'll be. So...if you're departing from Piraeus, you collect your tickets from the ticket office at the ferry terminal.
On Santorini, the ticket office is a travel agency, Dakoutros Travel, about 5mins walk from the bus station at Fira. I just get the address of the agent, print a google street map of the location and a photo of the agency's frontage.

You just turn up with a print of your booking confirmation, and the agency issues the ticket for you.
Blue Star are my favourite ferry line because it's so leisurely. The ships are huge and it's the main line that Greek people use. I always grab a table at the back of the open air deck and watch the islands pass by. Great place to sun bathe, meet people and the onboard facilities are really good.0
