Skype update problem

I have a message saying my Skype needs updating. When I try to update I get the following error message...

Is IE your default browser. If so go to internet options/advanced and click 'reset'. If this doesn't work run sfc. If this doesn't work install Firefox and make this your default browser. Thank you for your replies. I have tried all the above sfc found no problems. I am the only user and the administrator on my computer.
I am still unable to uninstall or update skype because of this0 -
Use Revo http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html to clean uninstall Skype using the advanced cleaning, then download latest version and install.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”
