Tiny beetle-like insects in new bathroom

We have just had our bathroom redone and now have an extractor fan and it is fully tiled white. We have inset halogen spots.
We seem to have a huge family of tiny insects which have smooth shells like beetles but they are only around 1-2 mm long and half the width. I think that they then turn into a fly... Not sure if they are coming in through the extractor or the ceiling.
Has anyone got any ideas what they could be.
