Injury Claim from accident, man pleaded guilty to careless driving, he died recently

Hello

Not sure if anyone can help or if I'm in the right place to post but I'm posting on behalf of a friend.

She was knocked down by an elderly man driving and received quite severe injuries. Police came to the scene, he was arrested and pleaded guilty at court about 6 months ago. This accident was just over 2 years ago and my friend has found out that the elderly man has recently died and she's abit worried about her injury claim.

She's still attending her consultant about her injuries and might have to undergo another operation as a result of the accident. Said she'll have to contact her solicitor next week to let him know the man died.

I'm just trying to help her as shes worried and does anyone know what the procedure would be now seeing this man has died re her injury compensation claim?

Thanks

Joe

    Her case will continue

She should speak to her solicitor for reassurance

In theory it means that her claim will now be against the man's estate rather than against the man himself.

In practice, either way it will be dealt with by his insurance company so it will not affect the final outcome.
