Script error message - help please

Hi - I am getting a message (which varies) about a script error, all the time on my pc.

Also can't install McAfee and when I went on to their 'virtual assistant' and let them try it still didn't work.

Not sure what is going on. I've had the PC a year and wonder whether to take it for a service. I also can't get rid of 'Bing' and different things have been happening - it has slowed down a lot recently so I suspect some malware but I have had McAfee on it all the time until the past few days, but I can't install a new LiveSafe as the card won't work. I've tried contacting MCAfee but it just got very confusing.

Thanks for any advice. I've been sitting here for two hours getting nowhere and am putting up with a badly functioning PC - it is not remotely like it was to start with, it is much slower.

I'd try the 'sticky' thread at the top of this forum section - there's a 'speed up your PC' sticky that might help.

    Are you using Firefox ?
You're problem sounds like what was happening on my computer. When the script came up the only thing i could do was turn off at the button (i know you're not suppose to do that) But then within no times the scrit came and froze my computer again. I spent weeks googling and there is a lot about it, others had the same trouble and couldn't delete or remove it.
I started trying different brousers. I'm now using TorchTorrent, to be honest i liked Firefox better but at least it's solved the problem.
    Update:
If you're trying to get rid of Bing and things, i downloaded 'Absolute Uninstaller' and have found that good.

    Thanks for both your replies.

I seem to have removed the script error message, just by deleting cookies, browsing history etc.

I haven't got rid of Bing yet - am investigating!

I've also downloaded Uninstall but am slightly worried about doing the wrong thing. I've removed some unwanted games that seemed to be on the pc. Will have to keep learning so that I can maintain my pc properly myself but it already seems much faster!

    Thanks, all sorted!:j

    I am using Explorer.

Selected 'use Google as default search engine' and 'homepage' under 'options'. Don't know how but I just happened to find that whilst I'm looking at things generally on the PC and it was unchecked.
