Has anyone dealt with smart parking? I have received a parking charge notice after parking in Asda, Stafford (which I have so far ignored).

Why the heck have you ignored them? This isn't 2012 or earlier! If this is thre first letter then the KEEPER appeals.
Come back and tell us when you've read the NEWBIES sticky thread, realised that you should have appealed to Smart (AS KEEPER NOT DRIVER!) and complained to Asda who can cancel it on the spot.
Tell us when Asda have cancelled it.
All other queries are already covered in the Newbies thread including example complaints.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for the helpful comments, I have read through the threads and gather that if I ignore my credit rating may be effected. However, I did take advice and went into ASDA only to discover that it was in fact a follow up letter I had received and not he original?! Therefore Asda said they couldn't act on it. So it looks like I will haveto contact smart anyway.0

Rather than contact Smart, complain to the BPA, the less contact you have with the PPC, the better.
It's all in the stickies, PoFA, PoPLA, GPEOL, BPA, PC, IAS, it is there to inform, to educate, to elucidate, use it.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

cant affect your credit rating unless all of the following happens
Smart take you to small claims court
you lose in the small claims court
you dont pay the judgment within 28 days
a CCj would then follow, which would affect your credit rating
pm crabman and ask him to merge both of your threads into one
also contact asda CEO or head office and insist that they cancel it, saying you tried the local store who were unhelpful - show proof of patronage like copies of receipts and copies of redacted bank statements0 -

Cobblers. ASDA could and should get this cancelled. They employed NotsoSmartParking so they (ASDA) are responsible for the actions of their contractors. You need to take this further up the ASDA food chain. Contact at least a Store manager and better still, the CEO.
Point out that as a genuine customer you, your friends, and your family will become ex customers if this isn't cancelled pronto. Tw@tter, Fakebook, and TrapAdvisor should also be used along with your local press.
If the letter you received was not the original then you should also complain to the BPA and DVLA that NotsoSmart have breached the BPA code of practice and also obtained your keeper details from the DVLA without due cause.
Stop ignoring and start complaining, now!I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

So I would say you take the original PCN to Asda or just phone up Asda Head office with the PCN number and be more assertive.Judytenbellies wrote: »Thanks for the helpful comments, I have read through the threads and gather that if I ignore my credit rating may be effected. Who said you have to contact Smart? They're not going to give you a copy if you've binned it. No-one said contact Smart.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Sorry if I've done this wrong. Newbie alert!!!
Last Friday I went to my local asda and stupidly forgot to get a ticket. I was in there for around 30 mins and got a ticket.
I've since lost it so don't have the PCN to be able to either pay or appeal (the latter being preferable). I've emailed the info@smartparking.com address 4 times in 4 days with the location, my reg (didn't say I was the registered keeper), time I was there and asked for info to be able to get this PCN but so far no reply.
I did this so I could have all correspondance in writing.
I know there'll be a few that suggest I should have bought a ticket in the first place which is fair enough but all I want is a bit guidance on what other steps I can take to appeal or get this cancelled.
Thanks in advance0 -

Just wait for the stupid Notice to Keeper, then appeal. Hopefully it's your car at the DVLA, you are the keeper?
If so, you get a Notice in about a month and can appeal. Stop trying to contact them now.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
