Historical auction prices - can anyone help?

I'm wanting to buy a car at auction, but don't really fancy travelling a few hours to watch what the car type I'm after goes for at a physical auction ...the obvious solution is to consult historical car auction data, but you have to be a motor trade professional to have access to that...can anyone help me out here (i.e. tell me - as a one off - what a particular car make/model of a certain year has raised at recent auctions?). I can then decide if it's worth getting up early travelling for 2hrs to bid for a car I fancy on Wednesday!
Many thanks.

Too many variables, is it a popular car? How many private buyers on the day willing to pay over the odds for it?
You never know until your there. Proxy bid leaving a deposit by card?
I left cash at an auction with my max bid because i couldnt stop. The car sold for more so i got it back.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I realise there are heaps of variables (hence seeking auction historical data for this particular car variant)
This car auction requires me to attend, but it's a two hour drive...they've only the one car that I seek...so that's not good odds....I'd rather have an idea of ballpark that it will sell for!0 -
Is the auction REALLY the only place for the model you want?
By the time fees are added, your time taken into account and the 'value' of an auction doesn't always add up these days.

Especially when you have the temptation to pay too much "Well I've come too far to go home empty handed"0

I'm sure you'd find a comparable vehicle when looking privately. Dealers only go to auction because they don't have the time to trawl the country for private deals.0

Its been a few years since I last went to an auction, but from what I remember bottom book value was a good basic guide, but as has been said, if you've got 2 people who really want a car things can go expensive. I remember two people after one car, it should have sold for about £2k, it went well past three, 5 cars later virtually the same car was bought by the previous 'looser' for about £1500.0

Be lucky buying an auction car matey...not for the fainthearted.
You've basically got NO COMEBACK despite the car being in the 'best' hall or whatever...the guarantee runs out an hour after the auction ends, it will be sooo easy to pay £500 under retail for what turns out to be an old bone.0 -

I was looking for an insignia and checked out local auction prices.
I'd have save about £500 - but there was £200 auction fees and the cars all needed a couple of hundred of paintwork and an MOT.
Wasnt worthwhile.
Bought one off a local small dealer. Knocked him back a bit on price, got a full years mot and a service on it. No hassle0 -
Actually, it was just that type of thing that I was looking for, but alas, their 'database' doesn't seem to be that big. I'm after a new shape Grand Picasso Exclusive+ ....none of that variant listed there - but thanks.0
