iTunes on new laptop?

Help please...

I have just got a new laptop. On my previous one my itunes library was accessed from an external hard drive. All my music is on the hard drive but I can't seem to get the itunes on my new laptop to set the external hard drive as the default music library. I'm sure it's simple but how do I do it? All my music is on there so it should be straightforward, no?
Skint: (adjective) The tendency to turn off the grill when turning the bacon.

Think skint - it makes things simpler

  • I seem to remember you have to hold Shift while starting iTunes. You then can select an existing library by navigating to it...... It is a while since I last did this so I could be wrong.....!

The section "Find and change the iTunes Media folder location" in this help file might be relevant (specify the relevant folder on your external drive as the "iTunes Media folder location"):
