toilet cistern valve help

Hi, we had a really slow filling toilet cistern and has a play around with the valve, which has just made it worse. I'm guessing its easier just to buy a new float valve? Here's a pic..




I'm not too good with plumbing- is someone able to point me n the direction of a new valve that would fit? Screwfix seem to do one but its a different type of design with an adjustable arm from the looks of things...thanks

May be a couple of pounds more than some others, but if I was doing this job I would fit Fluidmaster Brass Shank Bottom Entry Fill Valve.

Excellent thanks. Don't mind paying a little more for something half decent so that looks ideal.

Plus the valve you have now is fitted wrong the left hand side (as you look at it) shouldn't be facing the side of the cistern

Bloody hell, had to do a double take then, though it was a picture of my toilet! I had this cistern/toilet, and had the exact same problem.

I replaced the whole toilet as it was driving me wild. Had to fill the cistern with a bucket.

New toilet was only £50 from screwfix.

If you havn't changed the "other bit" (sorry, not a plumber,don't know the technical term) - the flush valve? Be aware they leak around the seal, and the cistern constantly has to refill itself.
