I have been looking for days for a hotel to take my son to to celebrate his 18th. Been up all night looking at Trivago, and various other sites but either they weren't where I wanted them to be (near Soho/Covent Garden but within easy reach of Victoria because I've booked us to see Wicked at the Apollo in Victoria). My son has aspergers, and doesn't do crowds or travelling in unfamiliar places too well (but he desperately wants to do this day/night out and swears as long as I am with him, he'll be ok).

In the end I just blew a fuse and booked the most vague secret hotel advert I've seen on Lastminute.com. All the title said was 'Beautiful deluxe hotel by Covent Garden'. No description at all.

However it did have a long list of services and facilities that sounded very luxurious i.e.

Hotel facilities *May incur additional costs
Room Service Concierge Currency Exchange Express check-in/check-out Laundry * Night Porter Reception desk Valet parking * Wi Fi Audio/Visual Equipment Business Centre Conference Rooms video conferencing Accessible Rooms Complimentary toiletries En-Suite Bathroom Coffee/tea facilities Telephone Television Trouser Press Voicemail High speed internet connection Hairdryer Mini-bar Iron and ironing board Safe

    Restaurant
Restaurant and Bar: Contemporary restaurant with wooden floors, serving modern British dishes using fresh herbs and spices. The perfect location for afternoon tea, pre theatre dinner or a romantic meal for two!

    Bar
Cafe Bar: Bar provides a relaxed and comfortable contemporary setting in which to meet for drinks or business meetings. Serving everything from sandwiches and soups to champagne and cocktails.

I could see from a post # 1442 That it might well be one of the Radisson Blu hotels but it definitely wasn't the one suggested. So took my courage in both hand and pressed book. I knew I had to be booking better than Travelodge (and costing less).

    Only paid £98.

As sooon as I'd paid, it said I was booked into Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury Street.., and looking around the normal price is just under £200. Its not quite the location I wanted to be in and I am slightly concerned if my son with get overwhelmed by the red ceramic reindeer in reception (joke) but am otherwise absolutely thrilled!

I haven't done this before so I hope to be able to stop jumping around the room before we leave (7th January).

I can now see that Trip Advisor gives the near £200 cost for most booking agencies, but it says £98 for Lastminute.com and of course, leads straight to the listing I saw.

So it sometimes serves us well to step into the unknown lol. Now I just wished I'd booked two nights ha ha! Please excuse the long post, I think I've lost my mind with all the looking at hotels over the last few days lol. Its 6am and I can't phone anyone (and its a Sunday) so I'll now go and continue spilling marbles quietly away from MSE lol.

Hope the trip went well, just wondered how it went. I was just reading a few posts about different hotels and your post made me laugh as I have a son with Aspergers and I totally get what hoops you jump through to go places. My son is almost 23 and has emigrated to Australia and every day is an uphill struggle. I have just returned from visiting. Hope you had a good time.
