No Claims Discount buying a new car

A little clarification please I am a little confused with no claims discount.
So I am in the process of getting a new car and was told that my current 9 years no claims discount is non transferable and by buying a new car it comes down to zero. Is this correct?
I contacted Aviva who have offered me a great quote at £320 based on 9 years no claims and they have said that I can transfer my no claims onto my new car but I am so confused, your thoughts on this please

If your no claims is on the old car then you have zero for the new policy.
Are you keeping the old car and new car?
If not transfer your current insurance onto the new one.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I will be selling my current car and have just the one, by insuring my new car with my current insurance it goes up by £400 so I want to cancel and take out a new policy with another insurer0

Assuming the NCD you now have is "normal" NCD, then you have been mislead......So I am in the process of getting a new car and was told that my current 9 years no claims discount is non transferable and by buying a new car it comes down to zero. Is this correct? ....
When you cancel your current insurer should confirm the NCD you had at the start of the policy year (none will be awarded for the current part year)
This will be acceptable to Aviva or any other insurer you decide to move to.0
