S-Video --> SCART Cable (Laptop/PC to TV)

Hello
I'm looking into using my laptop with my TV (which has 3 scart sockets). However I heard something somewhere about the length of these S-video leads not being longer than 3m or something, because it apparently degrades picture quality. Is this fact or fiction?
The reason I ask is that at the other end of our living room is my new PC with media centre - ideally I'd like a 10m lead to make sure I can connect the PC up to the TV as well, but obviously only if it's a good quality pic, dependent on whether above is true or not.
Would the following cables be suitable? Is the price ok too?!
Ebay: 1.5m Cable (laptop only)
Ebay: 10m Cable (for laptop and PC)
Thanks in advance

Yes, signals do degrade with a long cable. More to the point, will you be likely to trip up over a 10m cable, or will you be trying to route it under the floorboards or around skirting boards?
How about using a video sender, with the laptop connected to the transmitter and the reciever to the tv?0 -
Yep 10m is so that it can sneak under a large rug or along the edge of the room. Hmm, video sender, I remember with my old old PC (from Tiny Computers, remember them?) they tried to flog me "Tiny TV" which was a transmitter plugged into the PC which transmitted wirelessly to the TV - where would I find one of these?
I looked on ebay just now but only found TV to TV transmitters/receivers0 -

OK I asked about this item: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110166426613&sspagename=ADME:X:RTQ:UK:11
but the seller said it would only work for transferring the signal from the scart socket to the s-video socket (hence not useful for transferring from laptop to TV as in my case) - how can this be? Either the cable conducts the signal or not, never heard of a one way cable before
If you're wondering why I haven't bought the 1.5m cable in my first post, it's because I checked out the seller's feedback and found lots of negatives for non-receipt of items and poor communication :rolleyes:0 -
Can't you just burn a dvd with the pictures on and view them using a dvd player?0
-
No reason why I can't do that, just it'd be nice to just plug in and view - I also need to get some DVD discs first! One problem I found is that with a certain series, it would have needed 5-6 DVD discs and I'd only have needed to see it once, to catch up on what I missed. DVD discs seem not that cheap at the moment, tesco had them 99p each last time I looked
I suppose if you could recommend somewhere to buy cheaper dvd's than tesco  then I could just burn them. I don't know whether some internet places are just cheapo discs and would be rubbish quality.
Or, could I be clever and get a DVD-RW so I could burn it, watch it in DVD player, then erase it and burn the next one, etc. is that possible?0 -

A SCART I/O switch plus a 10m S-Video and 10m Stereo audio lead are all you require.0
